Kimberly Witham

When I first read about Kimberly Witham in Color Magazine I thought her work was very sad and I couldn't really understand why she chose to photograph dead animals... the work was beautiful as far execution but I just couldn't get past the dead animal part.. When I visited her website I was hooked. I finally understood what she was going for after I read her artist statement.. and I have loved her work ever since. I would like to introduce you to her work... she is definitely an inspiration.

At the beginning with you....

Hello!

So the lovely Stuart has assigned an individual blog assignment for his Art Direction students :) Soooo each one of us with have our own blog throughout the quarter.. so welcome to my blog! If you have stumbled upon this blog randomly and don't know who the heck is talking to you right now let me introduce myself....

My name is Kate Barr and I am a digital photography major at the Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg. I will be graduating at the end of the Summer 2011 quarter (September). I recently finished a 365 project (taking a self-portrait everyday for an entire year). I have now begun a 52 weeks project where I will be taking a self-portrait once a week according to a predetermined word list on flickr. I decided that doing one 365 right after another would be too much for me especially because it is my graduating year and I want to focus on my portfolio.

As far as what I want this blog to be: I think it will mainly be starting out as just random photo things that interest or intrigue me. This may be photo accessories or photographers that inspire me or what I'm working on... We'll see where it goes.. but i just thought I would do an intro blog to start us out! So welcome and I hope you stick around!
